my diary

9th April 1841

Hi, I'm James.I live in one of the 13 colonies with my parents and my sister, Rose. I'm 16 and she's 10. This morning my father said to us that we'll leave the East to go to the Midwest. My father want to settle on new fertile lands where we will be able to farm, to hunt and to breed animals. I don't want to leave this place and my friends but I hadn't the choice. We'll leave the East in two days.

12th April 1841

We went away our house at 5 am. Yesterday we prepared all the stuff we'll needCovered_Wagon for the journey. But  I couldn't take all I wanted, because we haven't a lot of place in our covered wagon. When we leaved the village, a lot of inhabitants said to us good bye and good luck. I was very sad to leave the land I knew but my mother consoled me when she said to me that our life will be better after the journey. I believed her and I'll try to be more happy during the journey

13th august 1841

Four month have passed since the start. The journey start to be boring: we always eat the same food, we always see the same view. We travel in the plain, in a dry landscape. This morning, for the first time, we saw Indians. At the beginning, they were afraid and us too. But we saw that they wasn't dangerous and I think that it was the same situation for them. Finally we met us but we couldn't speak with them because they didn't know the English.  Unfortunately, we saw during the afternoon other Indians. But they wasn't Sioux, they was Pawnees. They attacked us: my sister died and my father received an arrow in his leg. All the family is very sad but we knew that the travel was dangerous. We buried my sister a beautiful plain near a river in the wilderness.

21st October 1841

This morning we arrived where we wanted. It's a beautiful place, there is forest lac_pavin_panorama_lumineuxwhere we can cut trees to build our new house. Near the forest there is a lake with a lot of fishes. We haven't neighbor, we are almost alone in the nature. My father have already decide how will be our house and tomorrow we start the construction.  I hope that one or two family will settle near us, otherwise I will be bored. I want to have new friends.

October 13, 1862, I have to leave the farm...

My name is Jessy Carpenter, I'm 16 and I live in New York. My parents are two farmers who do the same things everyday. They never left their farm, because they had to look after people who wanted to rob them, But, today, they decided to leave their boring life for finding adventure. What is the reason ? They read in the newspaper stories from travellers who said Oregon was better. So, I should to get things ready.

October 14, 1862, Get ready !

This morning we put our belongings in the covered wagon. Instead of give up the farm, my father decided to let it to my uncle. We have started to travel and I know the journey could be dangerous. I read also in the newspaper many people died on the way but I think my parents didn't want to stress me.

December 29, 1862, The journey

Today I had the biggest fear of my life ! We advanced in this dry landscape. It was very boring. There was nothing at the North and nothing at the South. There was just sand on the floor, but we saw a skull on the road. We got off the covered wagon to see closer the skull. At this moment, Indians came toward us. They had long straight hair in wich they have feathers. They was riding. We were very afraid. A Indian advanced toward us. I think he is the leader. He looked if we were good or bad persons. I didn't understand what he said but he joined his tribe and they went at the East. I think, he knew than we were good. We continued any right.

March 16, 1862, The new life

We arrived in a town this morning. The sun rised up. Many people came and they helped us to got off our belongings. It's very different that our farm. There is a lot of houses. People live together. It's a better system that the farm. I saw children. I think we have the same age. I'm really excited to wake up tomorrow. It's a new life that I start !

My name is Sara and I have a little brother who is called Mike. We are the Crosh Family. My Mom and my Dad, nicknamed "Captain", decided to leave for the Midwes. They want to find gold there. They don't let me here because I'm only 15 years old, and they think I'm not independant and not mature.

April 1O, 1842 On the Road

It has been several days since we started traveling. They chose to take all the things we had. We travel thank's to a covered wagon. We are rich that's why we bought four horses: one for everyone of us. We brought a lot of food and water for survival during the trip.

July O2, 1842 Somewhere in the New World

The journey was very difficult because of the heat. We were lost in the wilderness, in the desert. The landscape was very dry and vast. Suddenly we saw people ... There were Indians! I hoped to meet them because a lot of people tought that was a legend. They lived in tepees and they was nomadic. The ate buffalo meat. When they had free some time, the hunted and riding horses. They were pacific.

August O5, 1842 The Settlement

We were finally arrived! I'm so happy! But we lived in a small house, and I slept in the same bed as my brother. Here, I'm bored, they was nothing to do ... There was a saloon next to home but there there were only poor and drunk men ... My parents didn't let me go outside, only in the garden! My Brother was ill, and I'm very anxious ... My Brother died, I'm very sad ...

diary of a teenager lost in the mildwest

1st April 1862: the bad surprise

Hi, my name is John, i'm a teenager very angry with my parents, the reason? They decide to go and settle in the mildwest, it's completely stupid !! I don't want to leave my friends just for meeting indians: my parents told me that it will be interesting to see a new culture, and that the life will be less expensive but i'm a teenager, i don't give a damn about that, and my little sister Kate too. Oh i forget something about her, she's her mother's little blue-eyed girl, and i'm not exaggerating when i say that it's the first time we are in agreement. I hope that it's a joke...

8th April 1862: the departure

It was not a Aprils fool... today, we leave New-York...

We just arrive, we left my beautiful town early this morning, the covered wagon was waiting for us, it was very dirty... Mum forces us to took the strict necessary for the journey because the wagon wasn't solid ! I've just taken some pullovers and jean's... Dad was already outside, he prepared horses for the trip and he was hitching up they to the covered wagon !

My dad call me, my family is waiting for me ! I have to stop writing... the journey is just beginning and i am already fed-up....

14th July 1862: Middle of the trip

I've never been so tired !!!!!!!!

We traveled for three months, we were at the middle of the trip and we just saw landscapes...beautiful landscapes... but no indians.... I was very boring until we finally perceived a tribe of indians !! My family and me were totally afraid because we didn't know what will be the reaction of them ! But when we approached, they were not dangerous for us !! We have been even more surprised when we saw that a English woman was installed in the tribe since a year !! We remained a week to had a rest and to teach a little more about this tribe. Here is what we learned of them: the name of their tribe was the Dakota, they are living in teepees because they moved to follow the buffulo which they hunt !!

Unfortunately, we had to leave this tribe to continue our travel, we were very sad to leave them but it was a good memory !!! The first of this travel...

24th October 1862: the END !!!!

Finally arrived !!

We are finally arrived !! We needs six months to finished this terrible travel. I'm completely exhausted !

We've been arrived since a week and we have been welcome in a tribe calls the Makah, they lived on the Northwest Coast in the edge of a forest. They lived there since a year, they have building permanent wooden houses to resist during hard winter, the rest on the year they live in teepees ! With chance some of this indians know a little how to speak english, it was easier to understand each other !!

My parents finally decided to stay in this tribe with the indians agreement, I was a bit lost during the first months but now, I follow me get used with this situation. In fact, if my parents did not force me I would surely choose to go back home....

Sandra's diary, accross the New World...

10th June 1842 My name is Sandra and I live in West of the New World with my mother Juliette
and my father John. Mam and Dad decided to leave today. They heard that , in Oregon, people
have a big land good for farming and
stockbreeding, and that we could got it for free. I hope
that I can take Muff, my dog. He is like my best friend for me. Tomorrow, we will have a
covered wagon to travel up to Oregon.

15th August 1842 We had to take the bare minimum. Fortunately, we took Muff!! I spent all
my time in the covered wagon to read, draw, look at the landscape and take care of Muff.
Mam drove the covered wagon the morning and Dad drove it during the afternoon.
At night, we slept together in the covered wagon. When we arrested to eat, I took advantage
of it to play with Muff but today I did not because, when we wanted to arrest, we saw
skeleton next to remains of a covered wagon and some arrows. So, we took the decision to leave
quickly that place...
10th September 1842
I am very hot! The landscape of Midwest is very dry, vast and above all wilderness. I feel like
I am in the middle of nowhere...

One day, We met a family of pioneers and we ate together, so I feel less alone! Today we

saw some Indians, I would have wanted to speak with them, they had feathers in their
long srtaight hair and looked peaceful but father did not agree, maybe because he

remembered arrows near the skeleton... So, he got scared and decided to ran away.

30th October 1842
We arrived today and found a place to settled!! Father use wood of the covered wagon
and some stones he brought to built a very small house. He said that, later we will have
a more big house but, at the moment, we must leave in this house. We have a very big land,
and I hope it is very fertile! Tomorrow we will catch some animals to make a
stockbreeding
and we will plant some seeds to have fields.

The diary of an Orphan girl and her cat, Blacky

March 12th, 1840 :

Everything was all right. My luggage in the wagon, Blacky next to me on the seat and no line on the horizon. People all around me were nervous and I was watching us, just waiting for the departure. Feelings were mixed in my head. This land was mine during a long time, but now it's enough, I have to go. For an Orphan girl, it's not difficult to leave everything you have for something else. Nothing is keeping me here. I don't know exactly why I feel like this. It's not a desire, it's a need. My little cat, Blacky, maybe my only real friend, was purring slowly and it has made me smile.
A scream  made me return to reality :"Everyone is ready ? So let's go !"
Yes, let's go, for a long and difficult travel...

March 31th, 1840 :

coveredwagon

Long. It seems so long to me. Nothing exciting or interesting to see, to do, and it has just begun. We were all travelling by wagon, and cowboys were supervising the land, because of them, the Indians. I have never seen one in my life. But I have heard of the Cherokees, they haven't a good reputation. Just before the beginning of the journey, people were praying to be saved by the Indians, it has caused some hesitation among familllies. But finally they are very curious to see the land, and I'm too but not for the same reasons...

wyoming_cowboys

April 28th, 1840 :

I have seen one today ! A little Cherokee. I was looking for water and the boy was playing in front of me. So it's true, They are very gorgeous with their long black hair and the make up on their bodies. I was fascinated by him but when he saw me, he ran away very fast. I was returning to the wagon, still smilling, so happy to have seen one of them. The land was becoming more and more beautiful. I will love it, my new home !

enfant_cherokee

May 30th, 1840 :

I've arrived. Just so beautiful, all I was expecting, all I have ever wanted, a green grass, a blue sky, a new world for us. Everyone was cheering, even Blacky was happy to finish this long journey. I was looking at the land. The air was pure and fresh. The life here will be pleasant. I'm at home. At this moment, a cowboy said « I'm glad to present you our new home, Walnut Grove ! »

Sharks on the net !

780638661az0

Internet is a tool we use everyday, but there are still many dangers on it. It's the place where adults pretend they are teenagers. Today many teenagers fall in this trap.

What is the big danger of the net ?

images

What shouldn't we do on the net ?

The Internet hides many dangers. For example, a person can pretend to be an other person because you don't really know him. He can lie about himself, put photos of teens, just for you to believe him. If you want to avoid this, you shouldn't post you first name and family name. You'd better use a pseudo. Don't post photos about yourself or your life. Don't give your adress if you don't know a person.

Don't forget: ANYTHING YOU POST ONLINE, ANYONE CAN SEE. EVEN NOT SO FRIENDLY PEOPLE CAN LOOK AT IT.

online multiplayer games

Oneline multiplayer games
addiction
We chose this subject because it's a problem which concerns mainly teenagers. It's important at present because more and more teenagers become addicted to online multiplayer games. This games consist in playing, thanks to the internet, with other players around the world. We will study the problem with online multiplayers games : addiction!!!

We become addicted when we can't stop playing games. We forget real life, to spend all our time in virtual life instead. We are very aggressive against our family, our friends, our teachers, or unknown people...

The p
i_can_stoproblem with some online games is that we need a lot of time to progress in the game, to level-up our character! We know a friend who became addicted to a game in four month! We remarked that he was always tired, that he didn't make his home-works, and we wanted to help him. We talked with his parents and we discovered that he was became addicted! So his parents went to a specialist and now, our friend didn't play online multiplayer games!

but_i_dont

Be careful !! online multiplayers games are not dangerous for us since we arrive to put limits !!! All the problems which we met were with persons who were absolutely unthinking, it's at this instant, when the player become addicted, that he needs to be encircled by his friends and his family !

So: PLAY BY IMPOSING ON YOU RULES !

MULTI-FUNCTIONS CELL PHONES

A mobile phone is a machine with which we can make calls, send messages, access the internet, listen music, play games and now we can watch TV.

We have chosen this  topic because we wanted to know how much teenagers used functions on their mobiles phone .That's why we have made a survey .Now everybody has a phone .

Thanks to documents studies in class and our survey we know that there are 2 billions mobiles in the world,96 % of 11-12 years old students have a mobile,81 % of teenagers use their phones to send text and 7/10 of the  people  we interviewed  access the internet with their mobile.

What is the problem ?

The problem is teenagers because they us their mobile phones during the class. The consequences are poor conentration and sometimes troubles with ringtones .There is one solution : It is to consficate their cell phones
